Irena Cantrall is a medtech commercialization consultant with 24 years of experience helping medical device and digital health companies accelerate US market entry, build go-to-market strategy, and negotiate partnerships and acquisitions.

Her career spans the full commercial lifecycle — from early-stage opportunity assessment and voice-of-customer research to product launch execution, pricing strategy, economic value modeling, and M&A deal structuring. She has worked across surgical, orthopedic, neurovascular, and digital health categories; her expertise encompasses hardware-disposable medical device combinations and ML-based Software as a Medical Device (SaMD).

After earning an MS in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University, Irena began her career at AITIA, a machine learning startup, where she led business development and technology licensing, negotiating agreements with commercial partners. She later earned her MBA from Cornell University, where she received a merit-based tuition scholarship and Global Cultural Leadership award. Following Cornell, she joined Medtronic — where she spent 12 years across the Surgical Innovations, Advanced Surgical Technologies, and Neurovascular businesses, leading opportunity assessments, innovative product launches, and acquisitions. During that period she supported the close of the superDimension acquisition ($300M) and Barrx ($325M), among others.

She then served as Global Marketing Director at Zimmer Biomet, leading award-winning product launches for robotics, digital health, and patient engagement platforms — including through a collaboration with Apple. Most recently, she was VP & General Manager, Americas, for Sim & Cure, a French neurovascular SaMD startup, where she grew annual revenue 33% through licensing agreements with Medtronic, Siemens, and Philips, and leading US hospital systems.

Today, through Cantrall Consulting LLC, Irena works with founders, international medtech innovators, and growth-stage companies entering or expanding within the US healthcare market.
